Deadpool movie review

Deadpool first appeared in a Marvel Comics as part of X-men universe in February 1991 which is the now the 25th anniversary of the character. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza as a villain for X-Force. He is a mercenary with a mysterious past despite his comical antics.

From villain to anti-hero, he was given more substance in the Marvel Comics industry but the when he started to break the fourth wall, he became the most favorite character in the Marvel Universe. Most of his punchlines are usually profanity and sometimes with sexual innuendo.

When he was first played by Ryan Reynolds in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, fans got disappointed that it was not the 'Merc with a Mouth' that they all know and love. That is why after the return of Deadpool in his own movie, the expectations became high among the fans.

But after the series of trailer releases and commercial plugs, the Deadpool trend heightened that was not expected since X-Men First Class. It's hard not to get my expectations high so I won't be disappointed but it is so appealing.

Now, the day is finally here. The last time Twentieth Century Fox produced a Marvel Comics movie was the Fantastic Four reboot that broke the good momentum since X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Ryan Reynolds started his career in a comedy movie Van Wilder. That is why he is a good choice for Deadpool.

Deadpool's punchlines are not what I expected. It was really a riot. If you thought that talking outside the fourth wall was quite funny, this movie made it more hilarious than Ferris Bueller. In the Marvel Universe, Deadpool is the only character that knows that he is being seen by a reader of the comic book or in the case of the movie, the patrons. He is able to address his insights to them as his audience.

Unlike any Marvel Comic movie adaptation, this is first R-rated movie since Blade trilogy. But it is just right, It won't be a Deadpool movie if it was toned down to PG or GP. The violence is part of the humor of the movie. The musical score is a mix of classic 80's and R&B. Once you watched the movie, you will always associate these songs with Deadpool and laugh. I am listening to Juice Newton's Angel of the Morning non-stop while writing this.

For other characters, I like the Colossus here than in the previous movies. He is more buffed. I was never aware of Negasonic Teenage Warhead till this movie since I am not updated with new characters but I find her really cool. Watch out for more cameo appearance/s of familiar characters.

Deadpool movie is now the best movie since X-Men: First Class and I am looking forward for more of his involvement in the X-universe. Do stay after the credits in the end for more revelations. Deadpool opens today in Philippine cinemas and was released and distributed by 20th Century Fox through Warner Bros. Deadpool was screened in advance at SM Megamall IMAX cinema last February 9,2016. Make Deadpool your Valentine movie date and paint the town red. Because it is a love story.
