IT movie review
“It” is movie adaptation and one of the popular titles of Stephen King's.
There are many horror stories but this one is a cult classic. Reviving It for
modern audiences is not easy. The mini-series was a masterpiece.
“It” tells the story of the town called Derry in Maine where
people disappear mysteriously and never heard of again. It may sound like a
regular psycho but not like this when the root of this mystery is the evil
clown Pennywise.
I will list down why I recommend this movie:
- The story was set in the 80’s. The mini-series was set in the 60's then it forwarded to the 90’s. This makes the movie like another world for today’s audience.
- The protagonists are not what you expected. They are the ostracized bunch of kids. Each of the kids have their own strengths. One of them is good in research for example.
- The villain is a clown. No one would expect a clown to be a character of evil.
- It combined horror and storytelling. Only Stephen King could done it.
- There was a time when there were more than two novels adapted into movies in a year. The last movie was Cell (2016) not counting the one released only weeks ago.
- This probably the best adaptation Stephen King had in years. I had reservations since the last movie adaptation of "It" was good and most got afraid of clowns because of it.
- After this movie, there will be a decreased of hiring clowns in children's parties.
- According to a Stephen King reader, this is a good adaptation.
- Although, Tim Curry was good to play Pennywise before, Bill Skarsgard pulled it off real good with his own style and made it different from Curry.
- This is not a sequel of the mini-series. It may be treated as a reboot.
- Andy Muscietti did a great job directing this movie. He also did Mama before.
- The only flaw of this movie was no Stephen King cameo appearance. Long before Stan Lee doing Marvel movie cameos, King was already made cameos in previous adaptations.
"It" will be the best and only good movie to watch for this weekend and I highly recommend it. For more movie reviews, follow this blog and like L.E.N.S. blogs on Facebook.
