Review: Before their involvement in Amityville, the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren was involved in another case in Rhode Island which is the basis of this movie. What makes it unique is that this is one of the true stories in horror.

What makes the horror movie genre fascinates people to watch. It's the fascination of the supernatural. People like a good scare. It's the thrill of experiencing it in cinemas like going to a fun house.

Prior to watching this, I was intrigued because of the teaser trailer. If a teaser can give cinema patrons quite a scare, what more if its a whole movie. There's also a feature interview of the Perron children thirty years after their haunting experience.

Director James Wan was best known for Saw and Insidious but The Conjuring was the best he did in my opinion. The teaser help build up audience interest and those who are familiar with Amityville. Wan gave sequences that helped give the audience a really good scare throughout the movie.\

Lily Tomlin is a veteran actress but I think that this was her best performance. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga plays real-life paranormal investigators/couple Ed and Lorraine Warren. I've seen Wilson acted but it was this movie that almost convinced me that he knows his craft in the supernatural realm.

Vera also played a crucial role. Drawing reference to the Warrens' lecture footages. Too bad Ed Warren is no longer alive to give Wilson but Lorraine is still alive to give insights to Wilson and Vera. Vera also has the authentic costume that is distinct to the old photos of Lorraine. The surviving Warren even visited the production.

In my opinion. It's a good movie to start a series of Warrens' case files of paranormal investigations. Amityville is  not their only case. Hopefully, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles if ever a sequel will manifest. Hopefully, Lorraine Warren will provide consultation.

I gave the movie a scale of 9.5 Annabelle dolls out of 10. The movie has graphic violence that can be also disturbing. Watch out for the end credits as the photos of the real Warrens and the Perrons are being shown.
