The Angry Birds Movie review

The trending mobile game app blasts out of the mobile
gadgets and slingshots to the big screen. The Angry Birds is now entering the
movie entertainment. From Sony Pictures Animation, the same studio that brought
the Smurfs to life.
At first, I thought it was a show off that Sony got rights
to produce a movie adaptation of a mobile game app which is happening for the
first time. Rovio Entertainment gave permission to Sony not just to use the
characters but gave a new look for the movies.
I also thought how they can create a story when it was
already too simple that even a kid can understand. How will they expand it in a
full-length animation feature? But for my surprise it turned out well. Not only
that they cast biggest names in comedy movies but also they expanded more on
the story.
The Angry Birds Movie made a theme was anyone can relate. A
local black sheep character in an island that no one wanted. I can relate much
because I am also a black sheep. Just like in the movie, a black sheep like me
also has a small group of friends. This way, it will only be exclusive to the
circle of friends that can free to talk.
For the likeness of the characters, they made it more
human-like than their rounded versions in the game which is more appropriate
for the movie. The target of the audience is for all ages especially for those
who already played the game. The Angry Birds players will love to see their favourite
birds in a wider screen than their tablets.
The Angry Birds Movie opens in Philippine cinemas on May 11
and distributed and released by Columbia Pictures. For more reviews, follow
