LIFE movie review
In our current situation in regards to space exploration,
the next frontier is Mars. We explore not just to find out about our
neighboring planets but to see if there is a possibility of settlement. Mars is
the next nearest planet.
Not too long ago, we just had sent Mars Rover there to scout
the terrain. It was also recently that it was discovered that there is also
presence of water in the planet. The concept of the movie is not a futuristic perspective.
They were using the current technology there.
The movie also has few actors because the characters are
astronauts based in the International Space Station. The characters are also
inclusive because they varied in gender and nationality. They are also experts
in the field. The movie also has a geneticist consultant to provide
technicalities and reference to this scenario.
What made me think about the movie, are we ready to find out
if there is really life out there? When Earth was dominated by dinosaurs, the
climate was really different for humankind to live. Humankind is the most
dominant species of the planet now since we are the only rational being that is
why we are better off without dinosaurs and what more if we are able to see
another life form that is not suited for the eco-system.
There were already some meteor impacts in the planet and the
scientists who are able to get cellular samples are trying to find out more
about it. But what if we are better off not knowing? The movie is clear about
this scenario and if ever the first manned mission to Mars is now happening, we
really need to think this through and as Matt Damon would say in The Martian, let’s
“science the $hi+ out of this.”
The story is quite impressive for anyone who likes a
thriller especially if the thriller is set in an otherworldly scenario. This is
one of the two movies I am suggesting good that will open this weekend (Opens
in Philippine cinemas March 24). By now, everyone might have watched Beauty and
The Beast. After the wholesome entertainment, we could use some chill factor.
