Fast and Furious 8 movie review
Now that the Fast Crew had been pardoned and Brian(the late Paul Walker) and Mia(Jordana Brewster) retired from the game to focus on family which is what it’s all about, Dom Toretto(Vin Diesel) and the rest are helping Hobbs(Dwayne Johnson) for their further missions. But what they didn’t
expect that Dom got rogue turned against all of them.
To make it worse, Dom took the stolen device and gives it to
Cypher, a high-tech terrorist played by Charlize Theron. The device can emit
EMPs (electromagnetic pulse) that can disable anything electronic and may bring
us back to the Dark Ages or the Stone Age as the fate of the world lies with
Hobbs and the rest of the crew.
With exception of Ramsey(Natalie Emmanuel) and Hobbs, the team now has a
diverse line-up. Government agent known as Mr. Nobody(Kurt Russell) has an apprentice Eric Reisner(Scott Eastwood) whom they
jokingly call Little Nobody. Since this is his first appearance, I am not sure
if he will be a recurring character to replace Brian but he is not like Brian.
What makes this new line-up unique was they are forced by Mr. Nobody to work
with Deckard Shaw(Jason Statham), the villain in the last movie. In the absence of Dom, Hobbs
is the best choice as a leader now that Brian is no longer with them.
Just like the previous movies, the villain Cypher is like
previous villains in the recent movies. They are too attractive and sexy as
well as evil. But Cypher is the most evil of them all. She seemed steps ahead of
the crew.
Just like the previous movies, they are going around the
world not just to drive cars but to do covert missions now just like Mission:
Impossible. This seems to be the next level in adventure with fast cars. Like
in the first movies, the cars are still the stars of the Fast and Furious
franchise, it may not be the best as the Fast Seven, but the movie is still
good to watch even though they only have two movies to go. How I only wish they
continue after F10.
Besides the fast car stunts and action, we will never get tired of laughing as long as Tyrese Gibson is still part of the crew. Fast and Furious 8 is the Asian release title but in U.S.,
it is The Fate Of The Furious. Fast and Furious 8 is released by Paramount Pictures and distributed by Columbia Pictures Phils. For more non-spoiler, quality movie reviews, follow this blog and like L.E.N.S. blogs on Facebook. Movie was screened at Uptown Mall Cinema in Taguig City.
