TOMB RAIDER movie review

It’s hard not to imagine the Tomb Raider movie without thinking of Angelina Jolie on the title role. The last two movies are quite good for a movie adaptation. Since the game has been rebooted, Lara Croft needs a new image in the movies and Alicia Vikander is the best choice.

I first watch Alicia Vikander in the movie adaptation of The Man from U.N.C.L.E.  She was a revelation that I look forward to see her again in a possible U.N.C.L.E. sequel. Unlike Angelina Jolie, Alicia’s version of Lara Croft is not a femme fatale type.  She can be added in the action star genre because she can do what any man could have done in any action story. It is similar to Alicia’s role in The Man from UNCLE because you don’t expect a mechanic to be a lady. Lara Croft is like one of the boys.

The movie makes Tomb Raider an origin story unlike the first Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie of Angelina Jolie. Angelina’s Lara Croft character is already a Tomb Raider by expertise. But unlike the previous movies, it lacks the supernatural element.

The primary choice of weapon of Lara Croft in this reboot is a bow and arrow. It is normal for a British to be skilled with archery because it is the long range weapon in medieval history. The only thing that bothers me that it reminds me of the Rambo movies.

My verdict: It is a better movie adaptation of a game unlike Assassin’s Creed which is bad adaptation not only in my opinion but fellow gamers also lacks a very important element from the game. I look forward for Alicia Vikander to hold dual pistols in the Tomb Raider movie.
