The LEGO® Movie review

Lego are one of the iconic toys. There are parents now who used to play with Legos during their childhood. Lego also had different themes to choose from. From city to Wild West, from medieval to pirates and more. Lego also owns rights for licensed products such as Harry Potter, Lord Of The Rings, Superheroes(Marvel and DC) and their longest running licensed  product, Star Wars.

What makes Lego appealing is that it is not just a toy but it is also educational. It is useful to spark the creativity of anyone. Going back to the movie, the animation was belongs to the same studio that brought you Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 1 and 2. They made it look like they used real Lego bricks and figures. The movements of the Lego mini-figures are accurate like they were the actual product.

For the story, it was well planned. Just like an epic, the hero was a nobody. Emmet is just a regular Lego mini-fig. It was like another underdog story. But it is a good comic relief. I can't help but laugh at this. There are punchlines that only adults can appreciate because it's smart comedy. But what is the most relevant thing here is that the movie used Lego as a means to connect with people not just the bricks.

I first thought the intention was for comic relief but there are situations that makes it a family movie. No need to get worried if there is violent content which there is none. The movie was rated for General Audiences by MTRCB. After watching this movie, I expect a huge demand of moviegoers buying Lego merchandises. The Lego Movie is released and distributed by Warner Bros. and is now showing in Philippine cinemas. For more reviews, visit and like the LENS blogs on Facebook.
