Avengers: Age Of Ultron movie review

Guaranteed no spoilers.

After three character sequels, the Avengers assembled again once more for this movie. The movie is still a stand-alone story but there are references from the previous movies especially Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

When the news that Marvel is bringing the Age Of Ultron story arc in the movies, my reaction was it was too soon and they will congest it in just one movie.  Not because Ultron is not one of my list of favorite villains in the comic books. But then again, Loki is not my favorite either but the movies made him cool.

Like Loki, Ultron was projected here unlike any villain. He will make you understand his logic is sound even though his means to carry out his task isn’t. He also has his own charisma that you can’t see in other villains. Thanks to James Spader, Ultron sounded more suave.

For the Maximoffs, I never expected them when they were introduced in The Winter Soldier but they should not be mistaken as the Von Strucker twin in the comics. I am glad that there is a new female character.  Wanda Maximoff is a good addition to the male-dominated story. Too bad, I won’t see her in her comic book costume version.

For the Avengers' new costumes, I like how they combined Cap's SHIELD uniform with his star-spangled colors with an Avenger insignia on his arm. The Hulkbuster armor is really cool because of the special effects. Thor's sleeveless version made it nostalgic to the old comic book version. Good thing they didn't add the helmet.

Although it had an intense excitement, it didn’t build up the same level with as the first movie. But it opened with all four cinemas at Glorietta 3 showing just this movie. The last time it lasted months. All cinema schedules were full. Also, there are "easter eggs" in the movie.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron is still part of the process in building up the universe as it continues to expand in the next line of movies in Phase 3. Just like before, don’t leave during the credits for one scene in the middle of it. For more movie reviews, follow this blog and like L.E.N.S. blogs on Facebook.
