Pete's Dragon (2016) movie review

The 2016 version of Pete’s Dragon is a reboot of the 1977 movie of the same name. I was able to see it when I was still a kid so that shows how old I am. Here is my comparison/review of the movie.

The 1977 has a different story direction that was relevant during that time. The 2016 version has a more serious tone.

The 1977 movie is a musical. The new movie only had a good soundtrack only composed for the movie.

With exception of Pete and Elliott, the characters are different and closer to reality than the older version.

The dragon Elliott is more life-like than the old movie who looks more like a mascot. Kudos to the character designer/s of the movie. Elliott was designed by Weta Digital.

Since this is a Disney movie, it is rated Parental Guidance. But it is for the whole family to watch. There are family situations in this movie that is real to most people.

It is also a movie about the environment. Not just about taking care of our resources but how to appreciate it.

Creatures like Elliott the Dragon can be true. They are called cryptids. There is also a branch of scientific study of these kinds called cryptozoology which is a study of hidden creatures. There are forests that may be uncharted in U.S. that may be hiding creatures like these and I am not just talking about Big Foot. There are creatures that was thought extinct and was rediscovered recently.
