Edge Of Tomorrow movie review

Story: William Cage(Tom Cruise) experiences time loop and gets one step in achieving victory every time he dies fighting alien invaders.

Review: Ground Hog Day is a popular example of time loops. It was my first impression when I first saw the movie trailer. It is an adaptation from a manga(Japanese for comics), All You Need Is Kill. Usually, movie adaptations are not that good especially when someone read the graphic novel before watching the movie. But there are always reason why movies are not always make good adaptations. The medium is not enough to cover all the good details. Otherwise, they would rather make it a TV series or mini-series. I don't mind if the characters are Westerners since the original story shows the characters in different nationalities.

Besides the sci-fi genre, it is also a war-action movie. It shows a realistic scenario when the world is at war. The only difference is, that it is a unified front because the invaders are otherworldly. Despite the sci-fi element, there is some parts that may be also close to reality. The main weapon of the humans were exoskeletons. There is now a working prototype being tested in U.S. military but not yet as war-ready like in the movie but efficient in lifting heavy objects and probably can enhanced human locomotion. What we are now seeing may make Iron Man, Centurions(Power X-treme), or Starcraft's Terran Marines a possibility.

I am glad that I watched this movie after X-Men: Days Of Future Past because I find it much better even though the X-Men movie was good. Edge Of Tomorrow opens in the Philippines on June 5 and was distributed and released by Warner Bros.
