Review: Oblivion is a sci-fi movie that has quality story that will make you think but is enjoyable to watch at the same time. The film is based from a graphic novel of the same name. I haven't read the graphic novel yet so I am giving my perspective of the movie.

What appeals to me about science fiction is that they open endless possibilities that can also be factual and sometimes unveil truths or situations that is close to reality. Oblivion has that kind of story. It may seem that the movie is drawing attention since it stars Tom Cruise but it should not be the primary purpose of watching it. Nevertheless, if it cast another actor, it may not get the audience it deserves.

The special effects are necessary but this movie will not just entertain you but the story will also twist your mind into thinking. The mind-blowing example I can compare it with is Aeon Flux. Director Joseph Kosinski did a wonderful job with Oblivion and I find it better than his previous work, Tron Legacy.

Oblivion is an Universal Pictures presentation. Distributed by United International Pictures through Solar Entertainment. Screening was held at IMAX theatre of SM City North EDSA.
