The XD4D Experience at SM Cinema

I've been hearing about the 4D cinema when my mom told me about her tour at Universal Studios. It's hard for me to imagine what they are describing they are not just watching with simulated rides where the seats not only moves, there are also simulated scents and sometimes you get water sprayed in your face.

SM Cinema also brought in their first XD4D cinema in Mall Of Asia. Located just near the IMAX lobby, it was already in operation when they showed The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. SM Cinemas invited me to experience the 4D cinema. The movie we were watching this time was Wolves from Pioneer Films.

It really engaged the senses. Your seats shakes, you get hit in the back when there is a fight scene, there is cold mist in the sides and there is a light sequences in the side of the movie screen. What is good about the XD4D was that it gives some movies a boost. If I watched Wolves in a regular cinema, I would not enjoy it because there is no substance in the story. But if you watched it on XD4D, it will make the movie experience fun even if the story is no good. The best part is you don't even need to go to an amusement park just for one simulated experience.

I was told that the gimmick sequences are scripted locally in their program depending on the movie. It also had an option for 3D but not HFR(High Frame Rate). The XD4D is located at the lobby of IMAX Cinema at SM Mall Of Asia for now and it has limited seats than their regular cinemas.
