Live Long and Prosper, Mr Spock.
Just woke up with this news since I was offline early last night. I was saddened by the loss of another original cast of Star Trek who shaped the vision of the sci-fi franchise and crosses of boundaries with his logic.
Leonard Nimoy has a great amount of influence that many sci-fi stories followed suit. His character was a model of principles of following protocol and reasoning. Not to mention the most quotable Vulcan greeting. Nimoy also created more stories and directed movies as well.
It was a good move to make Nimoy reprise his role in the Star Trek reboot. He was able to pass the torch to the younger cast. Leonard Nimoy was the first and longest running actor in the Star Trek Universe. His first appearance was pilot episode The Cage which was aired on its second run and made guest appearances in The Next Generation series. He even made appearances in Non-Trek series like The Fringe and The Simpsons(voiced as himself).
Leonard Nimoy is the third of the original cast that already gone. The first one was DeForest Kelly, who played Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy in 1999 and James Doohan who played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott the Enterprise's chief engineer. Now, that half of the original crew/regular cast is gone, the rest are only good for the cameo roles if the original Star Trek universe is restored.
For Leonard Nimoy(Died at 83), who lived long and prospered is now gone to where no one has gone before. You will be forever missed by the generations of fans. Vulcan salute from a Pinoy Trekkie blogger.
