Parasyte movie review
I first saw Parasyte when I started collecting current comic book titles in a comic book store back in early 1990's. There are already live-action anime titles that was already been shown but it took a long while to have a live action version. Death Note got ahead since it was more popular.

Parasyte was first published by Kodansha in monthly format from 1988 to 1995. There is also an anime series that is currently being shown in Japan. It is a sci-fi horror story about the worm-like creatures called Parasites that enters humans through the ear or nose to get control of the brain.
The story centers on high school student Shinichi Izumi who was also possessed by a parasite, but prevented it to enter his head. Instead, the parasite took control of his right hand. Both Shinichi and the parasite are thinking independently but they cannot separate themselves because the parasite is depended on his blood flow.
Naming itself Migi(Japanese for right because it took possession of the right hand), the two share a bond because there are other parasites who successfully took control of their human host and doesn't have a conscience to consume other humans without a host. Besides the gore, there are some comical scenes in the movie. It targets the anime-manga local fans and those who like good looking actors in Japan showbiz.
It was not well promoted here in the Philippines but I like the movie adaptation. It was a major plus that Square Enix was also involve in the special effects. The movie is shown here exclusively at SM Cinemas and is distributed by Pioneer Films. I look forward for the sequel. Don't leave the cinema yet after the credits.
SM Cinemas continues to show movie adaptation of anime-manga titles after the success of Rurouni Kenshin. Watch out for Sine Asia Film Fest of SM Cinemas and Viva Films.
