Review: Just like Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, the story takes place after the Battle of New York which happened in Marvel's The Avengers. In the case of Captain America, this is also another individual story.

Cap is still a man out of time since he is still adjusting to the modern era while reconnecting to his past. The movie shows Cap as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and is already doing covert ops. It was not clear how long Cap works for SHIELD. The movie also adapted from the comics Steve Rogers' SHIELD uniform. What made it different was that Cap has a mask and second shield that matches his stealth uniform.

Besides Cap, another Avenger returns in this story. Black Widow joins Cap as part of the same team for SHIELD missions. Of course, Nick Fury is still part of the story. The movie also debut characters for the movie.

Falcon is another superhero that is known as the partner of Cap in one comic book series titled Captain America and Falcon. Unlike the comics, I like how they conceptualized Falcon's abilities which I find better. The Winter Soldier is the main storyline which also introduced in the comic books. I like how they introduced him as a shadowy as well as a bad-ass character.

I admit I am not expecting the story to be this good. For the individual sequels, I ranked Captain America: The Winter Soldier as number 1, followed by Iron Man 3 as second and lastly Thor: The Dark World.

I am also impressed how these sequels are still linked to the TV series, Agents Of SHIELD.  The writers of the movies and the series are not far off to the continuity. There are also lots of "easter eggs" scattered throughout the story. Check out the extra scenes in the end title credits. One during the credits and one at the end of it.

Captain America started as a symbol of American armed forces during the Second World War when U.S. entered the War in December 1941. Since then, Cap embodied that as an icon for anyone even us Filipinos since our grandfathers fought with the Americans as resistance fighters. Until today, Cap still embraces that role.

As expected, a Marvel movie is still marketable. When it opened in Philippines, each mall shows Captain America: The Winter Soldier in half of their cinemas and it opened a week ahead of U.S. Let's see how long will it run. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is released and distributed by Walt Disney Motion Pictures.
