HIGHLY UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL WORLD OF “FOOSBALL: THE UNBEATABLES”

Academy Award winner Juan Jose Campanella brings the highly-spirited action animation “Foosball: The Unbeatables” to life collaborating with a lot of talented people to produce a family movie that has a worldwide, relatable appeal.

                “Foosball: The Unbeatables” follows the journey of Amadeo (voiced by Rupert Grint), a small-town kid with great kids as a foosball player.   As he grows older, this is the only true ability he has developed.   But soon enough, Amadeo finds himself leaving his comfort zone – his foosball table and the bar he works for when he has to put together a team of unlikely heroes who would be willing to recover their village and its people when it is in danger; but above all, it’s about defending their honor.

Only someone as daring as Amadeo would take on the challenge on defending his town against an old challenger.  Ensuring his team’s victory seems impossible at first, but this is soccer, where miracles happen.  Not only will Amadeo and his inept soccer team play a key role in this match, but so will his beloved foosball figurines who magically came to life to help hi m.

                “I always loved animation, we achieved the movie’s unique style little by little, by trial and error and after a lot of testing.  It has to be a creation and a world that is compatible with 3D animation, it has to be translatable to the computer world and at the same time, it has to be original and unique.  It’s a family movie and there are certain gags that only adults will get but of course it won’t stop kids from enjoying the movie,” recalls Campanella. 

                Campanella was awarded two Emmys for his work and has been nominated twice in the best foreign film category, winning in 2010 for his work in “The Secret in their Eyes.”  He was also awarded the Goya for best Latin American film for his work.  He graduated from NYU film school and started his film career in the US working on television shows and features such as “House,” “30 Rock,” and “Law and Order SVU among others and the critically acclaimed Spanish TV series “Vientos deAgua.”  His other film features include “The Same Love Same Rain,” “The Son of the Bride” and “Luna De Avellaneda.”

                “Our intention was to create a highly unique and original world.  I do believe we succeeded because I haven’t seen anything like it in any other movie. In my humble opinion,” concludes Campanella.
