The Book Of Life movie review
I am a fan of Guillermo del Toro which is why I like to watch this full-length animated movie. The Book Of Life tells the story of two boys who fell in love with the same girl. Unknown to them, two deities were having a wager on which boy will win the heart of the girl.

The story was so interesting like it was written as a modernized fairy tale set in Mexico near the last turn of the Century judging by the use of trains in the story. It is intended as a family movie but there are smart humor that only the adults or simply smart movie viewers can understand.
The voice casts are good although some of them does not sound Latino. Zoe Saldana fits the role of Maria because she is unlike any girl in the village. She is tough and brave. Even though Channing Tatum and Ice Cube still sounded like a Westerner, they played the part of Joaquin and the Candlemaker well.
Ron Perlman also sounded like a Westerner but it was OK since he was playing a deity named Xibalba. Perlman seemed like he is very frequent in del Toro's movies because he is also in Pacific Rim.
The characters were done to look different from regular human to a more like Mexican dolls so they can be more appealing in animation. The animated movie appeals to children and adults alike and it is not violent to watch. For more movie reviews, follow this blog or like L.E.N.S. blogs on Facebook.
