The First Star Wars Reads Day
Star Wars Reads is an annual event that promotes literacy through reading. The subject of story telling is Star Wars of course. When I arrived at Glorietta 5 last October 11, I just got in time for the story telling session led by Karen Kunawicz and Hank Sparrow from the Black Pearl Phils. group in their usual pirate costumes with Jedi robes. Nothing beats this pair in telling stories to kids than these two. It is always entertaining and fun.
The next was the artwork where kids can create their own Astromech droid (Artoo's generic droid model) with art paper on a black sheet that looks like a droid. Simultaneous with the program, the 501st Philippine Outpost was also present. Considered as the bad guys doing good, they are responsible for doing charity work even if they are wearing their Stormtrooper armor where you can have your photo taken.
In the gaming area, demonstrations are being done for official Star Wars card game and miniature game where you can role play or lead the Rebellion or the Empire. It was a fun day because most of my friends from the 501st are there.

Star Wars Reads is on it's third year in U.S. and instead in the library, it was held in a mall where people frequently go. The first Star Wars Reads in the Phils. is made possible by Ayala Malls, Kapow!, the first official Marvel store, and the 501st Legion Philippine Outpost.
