First Thoughts About Max Steel live action movie
Before I got the press release for the local release of this
movie, I already saw the movie trailer online. Just like the animated series it
was based on, my impression was like it was Ben 10 meets Iron Man. I know Max
Steel from my childhood but the new Max Steel is trying to catch up Ben 10’s
popularity. I would rather watch Ben 10 than Max Steel.
I compared the production similar to Ben 10 live action
movies that is more like a TV production than a big movie production. Because
the effects are not like what you can see in Marvel or DC movie. The live
action Spawn made better SFX even though the movie story was not that good.
The movie is based on the
recent animated series. I think the reason why they made this movie because the
action figure franchise is not selling well. I think it will be possible to be
popular if they revive the old Max Steel action figure. Mattel Is still best in
producing 1:6 scale action figures and their Masters Of The Universe and DC
toys. Here is the synopsis:
“Max Steel” is a story packed with captivating characters and fast-paced action. The plot chronicles the adventures of 16-year-old Max McGrath (Ben Winchell) and his mother, played by Maria Bello who have just moved back to Copper Canyon, the town in which Max’s scientist father died in a mysterious accident shortly after Max was born.
Taking on the titular roles in “Max Steel” are Ben Winchell as Max McGrath and Josh Brener who voices Steel, together, their powers become the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel. While trying to belong in his new hometown, Max discovers that he’s also being followed by a techno-organic alien named Steel who is after his super-human energy. Soon the two finally accept their oddly-connected fate and discover that together, they possess a powerful strength beyond the human world. As “Max Steel,” they suddenly find themselves hunted by sinister forces who want to control Max’s powers, as well as an unstoppable enemy from another galaxy.
The movie opens in the Philippines on October 19. The local
distributor of this movie rarely invites and this is not the type of movie I will spend to watch. Let me know what you think. For more geek perspectives, follow this
