Local Animation Studio involved in Gears Of War 4

Animation is no stranger to Filipinos since we already contributed in the animation industry since the 90’s. Big animation studios in U.S. already recruited Filipinos in the animated features we enjoy today. For the gaming industry, we were never left out.

A peek at the Gears of War 4 virtual reality environment

The Coalition is a Microsoft first-party studio that selected Synergy 88 Digital, a Philippine-based animation studio, to do assets in the game.  They recently worked on Gears of War 4, an exclusive Xbox game.

The assets are considered vital component since it varies. It can be weapons of the character, the 3D models, the game codes, sound effects, music, etc. Anything that can be used on the game engine. It is a great deal for us to know that Filipinos are also behind the games we play in our gaming consoles especially Microsoft since they exclusively released HALO series besides Gears Of War.

Ms. Chua shared to me that doing game assets for Gears of War 4 is being supervised by Microsoft. The designs are already there since the previous games. They just need to do it again for the latest game. This just shows that our animators have good quality works for international standards.

It is also good that our government is showing initiative to promote our animation services in the international market because that is where the target market is. The Board of Investment has been promoting our country for potential animation projects. This only means that we are not just avenue for BPO manpower but also qualified contributors for the world class animation. We already have a college course in animation in one of our distinguished colleges.

I got a chance to see the game's walkthrough environment via virtual reality and it was very cool. I got to control a mech unit.
