Marvel's Doctor Strange movie review

The Marvel Universe has a variety of super heroes that can overcome any types of threats but when it comes to the realm of mysticism or magic, there is only one super hero for this: Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme.

Because of the various characters of Marvel Comics, Doctor Strange is given fewer roles unless there is a threat that is mystical in nature. This is why Doctor Strange is not the popular character unlike Wolverine or Spider-Man.

When the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 was revealed, they made a good choice for Benedict Cumberbatch to bring the Sorcerer Supreme to life. Not only he is a good actor but he also shows similar physique to the comic book superhero.

What about the spells he is going to do? The special effects today can do many wonders which are truly what this movie needs but to make it more appealing is another thing. The spells that that they are casting made it look cool even though it is similar from Inception. But it was a good idea to do it.
What really impresses me about the SFX was the way they did Doctor Strange’s cape. The movie also shows the SFX of Doctor Strange’s trademark powers, the astral projection. The story is also accurate from the pages of the comic book. The origin is also presented in the movie format. The realm of mysticism was so appealing and that it may also fit with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe sometime soon.

We are now on Phase 3 of Marvel movies so we should get used to after-credits scenes. There is one in the middle of the end credits and one at the end. Expect also cameo appearances. One cameo appearance is truly expected but there is another one who will make his guest appearance.

In a way, Doctor Strange is a good movie experience but if you are having no problems with kaleidoscopic visuals, I suggest you drink something for motion sickness. If you have history of seizures, be sure that this is bearable or can be allowed by the doctor. But, I never got a headache watching it in IMAX 3D at SM Mall of Asia.
